I started writing this blog as a class assignment, now the class is coming to an end. Even though the class is ending I will still be updating my blog. I have found that writing this blog is a great way for me to summarize my research so I can look back at it later if I need to. I have also found that it is a good way to get the word out about my film. I would like to continue to connect with people who are planning a wedding or just interested in weddings in general. One thing I would really like is to connect with theknot.com because I think theknot.com is a great site for wedding planning for people all over. Another wedding site I hope to connect with is mywedding.com because I have found that site helpful in my research as well.
I have also found that Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook have worked the best in promoting my blog and my film. I received the most clicks to my blog from Twitter followed by Facebook. I did not receive any views on my blog from Pinterest, but I have gotten a lot of my pins repined including the pins from my blog. I have also found Pinterest to be very helpful in getting inspiration for production design.
A few months ago I wrote, produced, assistant directed and edited a Pringles as a class assignment that we (myself and my crew, Nikkia Adams and Doug Hill) also entered into a contest. We had five weeks to create the commercial from pre-production to the final edit, which is not a lot of time. Throughout the pre-production process we encountered some challenges such as no actors showing up to our casting call and one of the props not arriving on time. I had to change the concept the day before the shoot along with the help of the director, Nikkia, and we ended up being able to find two good actors last minute so it all worked out in the end. I learned a lot about the pre-production process, which is helping me in planning for my current film, which will be a lot longer than 30 seconds. I have more time to plan out my film and I am definitely utilizing that. In doing the Pringles commercial I gained a lot of experience in coming up with last minute plans, however I am doing everything in my power to not have to result to that for my current film. Even with all the challenges we faced I still think the commercial came out very well. What do you think?

The first step is figuring out your style, then consider song criteria and finally looking at wedding song lists. The article explains each step and guides you to figure out how to pick a song. It also provides links to wedding song lists. Besides the three steps the article gives other helpful tips such as choosing two songs or doing audio clips of different songs to tell the story of your relationship. Theknot.com also has a bunch of different articles about wedding songs. Such as songs you should not use, romantic first dance songs, first dance cover songs, music tips, music myths, music mistakes, and much more so I recommend looking through there as well.
For my film I do not need a specific first dance song, however I do need a score for the movie. I will have someone compositing the music for me, but I have also been looking around on soundcloud.com to get ideas of how I want the music to be. Here is one of the songs that I found:
I have used theknot.com for a lot of my research. It has everything that you could possibly think of for planning a wedding. One of the many features that I have explored on the knot is their wedding checklist. This list goes over what to do four to 5 months before the wedding, two to three months before the wedding, six weeks before the wedding, three to four weeks before the wedding, one to to two weeks before the wedding, the day before the wedding, the day of the wedding, and after the wedding.
Planning a wedding for film is a little bit different than planning an actual wedding, but I found a lot of the items in the four to five months before the wedding checklist helpful such as creating a budget, looking at color palettes , flowers, wedding dresses, making a folder on the computer and a binder dedicated to the wedding (or in my case film), figuring out who is going to contribute what to the wedding and so on. If you have no clue where to start planning I definitely advise going over the checklist. I suggest going over it no matter what. Even if you have already started planning there could be some items you missed or hadn’t thought about. So check it out and have fun planning your wedding. I sure am… even if my wedding is pretend.
