If you are not looking for a traditional location and want something a little but more unique I would start with watching this video from Get Married TV.
After watching this video I was inspired to research more unique locations and found an article called 10 Completely Unique (And Totally You) Wedding Venues. The article goes through 10 different locations such as a chapel, a butterfly habitat, a winery, near the water, a country club, city hall, a museum, a park, a garden and scuba diving. You can read the article and get more information about each location. I found the butterfly habitat the most interesting because I have been pretty much obsessed with butterflies since the age of eight or nine. Although I will not be using a butterfly habitat for my film it did inspire me to think outside the box.
To me the location is the most important aspect of the wedding. Since the wedding that I am planning is for my film I want to be sure that the wedding location is appealing to the eye and will look good cinema graphically. Also since this is for a film I am on a pretty tight budget so I cannot afford to spend tons of money on the location. I have not found my location yet, but there are a few great websites that are very helpful with looking through locations.
If you live in the bay area, like me, a good place to start looking for locations is mybayarewedding.com. This website has a list of different locations with pictures. If a location looks appealing to you it links you to the site where you can look more in depth into the location and where you can contact the vendor.
Another good bay area site is sfbaybrides.com. This site does not have pictures of the location on the site, but it lets you narrow it down from the bay area in general to the actual county you would like to have the ceremony in. Sfbaybrides.com gives you a list of different locations and describes each one. It also provides a link for each location that directs you to that locations site. Another good aspect of sfbaybrides.com is that you can look at locations for destination weddings as well such as Hawaii, Lake Tahoe. Las Vegas, and Reno.
Another helpful site is mywedding.com . This site will help you find a location in any state in the United States as well as in Canada and the U.K. Mywedding.com is helpful for everyone. Instead of just people in the bay area. I also got all the photos used in this post from mywedding.com.
This is a great video about color palette trends for the year 2012. It was produced by OASIS Floral, which has a lot of great videos about different floral arrangements and color combinations not just for weddings but for other events as well like mothers day and valentines day. If you need tips on any floral arrangements I recommend checking them out.
I found the video very helpful. It helped me to think about my color scheme and make sure it was what I wanted and looked modern enough for the personality of the bride of my film. I think if you want your wedding to follow some of the newer trends you should definitely check out the video.
Choosing the right color palette for your wedding is key. The colors you choose for the flowers, decorations, and brides maids dresses help to set the tone for the wedding. A great place to pick your color palette is theperfectpalette.com On this site you can search palettes in general or search by color. I recommend searching by color because then you can pick one color that you really want and colors that compliment your main color will go with it. However if you do not have an idea of a color that you want then looking at palettes in general is definitely a goo idea.
Theperfectpalette.com is a great source, however it focuses more on color swatches than on showing pictures of the combination together. If you want to see examples of color palettes in decorations I recommend checking out theknot.com Here you will see a combination of colors in decorations. Once you get an idea of what you want I would go back to theperfectpalette.com and researching your color choice even more.
The wedding I am planning for my movie is a little bit different. I have to think about the colors that would look best on camera and not take too much attention away from the story of the movie. I know that the main color I want to use is cranberry so I am in the process of looking at different combinations on theperfectpalette.com and researching them more on other sites. I ended up choosing is cranberry and bold pink.
Why do people stress so much about weddings? It is just one day out of your life after all, but many brides stress about every little detail. There is a lot that goes into planning a wedding from picking out your guest list and sending invitations to picking the right colors, flowers, locations, etc. I am currently working on a film about a bride who has planned the perfect wedding so I myself have to plan the perfect wedding and I will be giving out tips and advice a long the way.
